Michael (Ozzy) Paul Scheffer, 55, of Cambridge, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023, at his home.
Michael was born on August 17, 1968, in Cambridge, a son to Henry (Hank) E. and Cindy L. (Todd) Scheffer.
Mike loved the Lord, his family and friends. He graduated from Meadowbrook High School in 1986 and went on to get his bachelor's degree, Doctorate of Physiology, and Master of Science. He worked as a Union Staff Representative for AFSCME Union for thirty-two years. Mike was a "rockhound" from the age seven when he got his first rock tumbler. He loved and learned all he could about geology. He was a unique man who loved to be in the woods hunting all kinds of mushrooms and herbs. Mike dug flint with his friend Roy Miller and made jewelry in his rock shop known as "Flint Ridge Gems". He was active at the Semi Annual "Flint Knapp In", that was attended by fellow flint knappers from around the country. He liked rock music and playing along on his guitars. He also liked blues music and Christian rock.
Mike is preceded in death by his sisters, Georgianna L. (Scheffer) Mosley and Lisa Dawn Scheffer, his maternal grandparents, Paul and Wanda Todd, paternal grandparents, Edward and Marion Scheffer, his daughter, Ashley Roosa, his best friend, Denny Jackson, and his faithful dog Gabriel.
Mike is survived by his partner of thirteen years, Jenny Krise of Cambridge, his daughter, Victoria (Josh) Hulse of Cambridge, his parents, Hank and Cindy Scheffer of Cambridge, his nephew, David R. Mosley Jr. of Cambridge, his niece, Lindsey Moore of Newcomerstown, his special friends, Roy Miller of Wilmot, and Clark Pattison of New Concord, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to Thorn Black Funeral Home.
