Daniels Family Funeral Services - Southern ChapelMichael Scheid, age 79, died in his home in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, on January 20, 2026. He was born on September 21, 1946, in South Bend, Indiana.
Michael attended Loara High School in Anaheim, California, class of 1966. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany, during the Cold War conflict and the Vietnam War. He served from 1966–69. When discharged, he returned to Anaheim, continued his education, and received his BA in Business Administration.
Throughout his career, he worked as a Home Builder Superintendent and Customer Service Manager for various prominent builders in the Orange County area in California.
Upon retirement in 2003, he and his wife, Consuelo Valencia Scheid, moved to Rio Rancho, New Mexico, where they spent numerous years helping care for her elderly parents, Elvira and Antonio Valencia of Bayard, New Mexico.
Michael was predeceased by his parents, Ruth Elvira and Robert Cook Scheid, and grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Consuelo Scheid; brother, Patrick Scheid, and wife, Lynne, of Gallatin, Tennessee; nieces, Katy and Nicole, of Gallatin, Tennessee; nephew, Aaron Scheid, and partner, Tracy, of Texas; sister, Joan Scheid, of Carson City, Nevada; nephew, Kevin Weaver, of Carson City, Nevada; nephew, Bobby Weaver, of California; and numerous in-laws and extended family members.
Friends and family are welcome to join in a visitation at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 5th, at the Church of the Incarnation. The parish is located at 2309 Monterrey Rd NE in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. A Catholic rosary and funeral Mass will start at 10:30 a.m. after the church visitation. In addition, a gathering will take place in the parish hall after the rosary and funeral Mass.
Michael’s cremains will be interred at a later date at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
