Born in New Kensington and raised in Ambridge, Michael was a proud graduate of Quaker Valley High School and then completed his freshman year at Montana State University, returning home after suffering an injury.,
A patriot at heart, Michael honorably served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps. Following his service, he spent 19 years working at Dravo Corp on Neville Island. With the plant closing, Michael pursued a degree in nursing from Community College of Beaver County. After spending a year at Suburban General Hospital, Michael gained employment as a registered nurse at The Medical Center, Beaver from where he retired following 15 years of service.
He was a devoted husband to Janet L. Owen Selley for 57 years, father to his two sons, Christopher Selley (Katie Weigle) and Joshua Selley, and a grandfather to Lily Ann Weigle.
He is now reunited with his parents, Michael Selley and Rose E. Selley Gaydos, and his siblings, Rose Marie Jula, John Selley, and Joseph Selley.
He was an avid gardener, finding peace in the tranquility of nature and the satisfaction of nurturing growth. His love for golf provided a backdrop for forging lasting friendships and enjoying the outdoors.
Friends will be received on Thursday, Feb 1st from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, where services will be held on Friday at 10 am. Interment with military honors will follow at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
