Michael Shankle

Michael "Mike" Wayne Shankle, 75, of Wasco, CA passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025 surrounded by loving family.
Mike was born on August 4, 1949 in Bakersfield, CA, the son of Boyd Leon Shankle Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Shankle (Sherrill). Growing up, he lived in McFarland and Delano, and attended McFarland High School. Mike worked as a Purchasing Agent and Shop Manager at Sun World International for 49 years, retiring in 2020.
At Sun World, Mike met and fell in love with Barbara (Myers) the love of his life, they were married on August 7, 1995 in Bakersfield. They loved going to the beach, Avila, Morro Bay and Pismo being their favorites, and enjoyed their many trips to the casino in Lemoore. Mike and Barbara hosted countless holidays at their home in Wasco, where all were welcome. They were happily married for 20 years until Barbara's passing in 2015.
Remaining to cherish Mike's memory are his brothers Boyd (Debbie) Shankle and David (Teresa) Shankle; sister Patty Osmon; nieces Kacie Taylor and Amy Shankle; nephews Patrick Shankle, John Quaadman, Brian Thomas, Brandon Shankle, Christopher Osman, and Joshua Osman; stepson Richard Skaggs and step-granddaughters Ashley Acevedo and Kaitlyn Skaggs; and a special thank you to Jaime Martinez, who worked with Mike and Barbara and was always there for them whenever they called.
Mike has gone to be with Barbara; brother, Charles Shankle; sister, Peggy Thomas; and his parents, Boyd and Mary Shankle. Mike will be deeply missed. His family would like to send their deepest thanks to the Harlock Home in Bakersfield for providing Mike exceptional, personal care. Special thanks to Dustina, Rosemary, Emmy, and Sandy.
Graveside service will be at Wasco Memorial Park on Friday, July 25 at 10 AM with reception to follow.
