Michael J. Shemerdiak

Michael J. Shemerdiak, age 57, of Kennedy Township, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.

Born on June 14, 1968, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Peter and Kathleen (Carey) Shemerdiak. Michael was the beloved husband of 27 years to Theresa (Banaszak) Shemerdiak; a loving and devoted father to Tyler and Nick Shemerdiak; and the cherished son-in-law of Bernard and the late Maria Banaszak. He was the dear brother-in-law of Lisa (Bryan) Parks and Lori Lake, and is also survived by his honorary son, Kerry Koll, along with a host of family members and friends who will miss him dearly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Shemerdiak.

Mike was an avid reader who found great joy in books and storytelling. He was a passionate sports fan who especially loved watching Pittsburgh Penguins hockey, Liverpool soccer, and Steelers football. A proud member of IBEW Local 5, he dedicated himself to his work and the brotherhood it represented. Above all, Mike treasured time spent with his family, whether traveling together or simply relaxing and enjoying their favorite TV shows. His quick wit and wonderful sense of humor brought laughter to those around him and will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Family and friends will gather on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 12:00–3:00 p.m. and 5:00–8:00 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 8:00 p.m. at Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, 5405 Steubenville Pike, Robinson Township, PA 15136. Interment will take place at a later date at Resurrection Cemetery in Moon Township.
