Michael L. “Mike” Sherry, 61, Mexico, passed away at 7:57 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2024, surrounded by his family at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN. Born on October 6, 1962, in Van Wert, Ohio, he was the son of Opalean (Schlatman) and Richard Sherry. Mike graduated from Wayne Trace High School in 1981 he later joined the United States Army and served as a radio repair technician for three years in Germany. He went on to have a career as an electrician and worked for Clayton Homes for many years.
On August 23,2003, Mike met the love of his life, Cheryl Anderson. Cheryl and Mike built a loving, happy life together. Mike was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend, and proud Republican. He loved disc golf, bowling, watching sports (especially PURDUE), going on dates with his wife, and playing with his grandchildren. He was the kind of person to help anyone, anywhere, at any time. He always made sure his family came first.
He leaves behind his wife Cheryl Sherry; his beloved fur-baby, Kali Ann Sherry; sons, Jayson (Nicole) Sherry, and Tim (Pam) Sherry; daughters, Stephanie Sherry, Angel (Andrew) Kidd, and Marie (Dave) Nelson; his grandchildren, Micah, Wyatt, Jaydon, Reagan, Madalyn, Declan, Brandon, Alanis, Trinity, Bentley, Rylan, and Ava; his sisters, Kim Mansfield, Cindy (Steve) Coil, and Michelle (Jon) Studebaker ; brothers, Jim (Bobbie) Sherry, and Tommy (Dot) Eppleman; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mike is preceded in death by his mother, Opalean Sherry, father, Richard Sherry, birth-father, Clifton Gayle Fife; daughter, Sara Sherry; and brother, Jim Eppleman.
The family would like to thank all of the staff in the MSICU at Lutheran Hospital for the excellent care Mike received during his time there.
Visitation will be from 5-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 6, 2024, at McClain Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico, with Military Rites provided by the Miami County Military Rites Unit.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Mike’s name to Hopes Harbor at 7922 W Jefferson Blvd, Fort Wayne, IN 46804.
