Michael "Mike" Simar, 72, of Jennings, Louisiana, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025.
A skilled craftsman and musician, Mike could build just about anything and play nearly any instrument he picked up. He loved art, music, sailing, and, most of all, Gail-the one person who truly made him happy before cancer took her too soon. In the end, he lived life on his own terms, for better or worse.
Mike is survived by his children, Jacob, Andrea Gilkeson, Michael, Geoff Wolfe, and Kari Castille; 11 grandchildren; his brother Charles Simar and wife Patty of Austin, Texas; brother Mark Simar of Jennings, Louisiana; and sisters Kathleen Simar of St. Louis, Missouri, and Margaret Sonnier of Jennings, Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by his wife Linda "Gail" Johnson, his parents, and his sisters, Frances Carol Simar, Polly Simar Bonin, and Yvonne Simar Dewey.
