Marvin Simar Obituary
Marvin Simar, 74 of Hoffman, died Thursday, June 6, 2024, at his home.
Marvin Wayne Simar was born August 6, 1949, in Long Prairie, Minnesota to Lester and Vivian Simar. He attended Wykeham rural school for three years before moving with his parents to Eagle Bend, Minnesota in 1958. He graduated from Eagle Bend High School in 1967, then continued his education at Staples Technical School in Staples, Minnesota for farm mechanics. During his school years he worked at the Eagle Bend Coop Store and for farmers.
On October 22, 1977, Marvin married Nancy Erickson. One daughter, Kristy Marie was born to this union. He was employed at the Sander’s Garage and later Terry’s Auto Sales in Hoffman, Minnesota as a mechanic. Marvin and Kristy enjoyed swap meets, flea markets, garage sales and he loved tractors. Marvin liked good conversation and having coffee with his buddies. He was a people’s person, and a friend to all.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy (Erickson) Simar; his parents Lester and Vivian Simar; aunts, uncles and cousins.
Marvin is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Kristy Simar; sister Jeanne Kae Simar; brother David and wife Kathy Simar; aunt Gladys Miller; nephew Nick and wife Jessica Simar, and niece Abbie and husband Ryan Simar; brothers & sisters-in-law Peggy (Bill) Pasche, Dale Erickson, Connie Anderson, Susan (Dale) Murray, Darryl (Carol) Erickson, Janice (Troy) Rienking and Dean Erickson; nieces and nephews Jennifer (Ryan) Rupp, Amy (Eric) Mayer, Ryan (Laura) Anderson, Marisa (Brian) Knutson, Justin Anderson, Sarah (Colby) Schultz, Michael Schultz, Justin (Maggie) Hvesda, Tommy (Jessica) Reinking, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Peace Lutheran Church in Barrett with visitation one hour prior to the service.
