Michael Mato Skelin

Michael Skelin, 59, of Haines City, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at AdventHealth Heart of Florida. He was born on September 19, 1966, in Chicago, Illinois, to Matthew and Sonya Skelin. Michael moved to Florida in 1976 from Chicago, where he made Haines City his home. He worked as a roofer throughout his life and took pride in his hard work. Michael was of the Christian faith.

Michael enjoyed working on cars, traveling, spending time with his friends, and helping others whenever he could. He showed love and compassion to his family and went above and beyond to ensure their needs were met. Michael was kind and selfless in most everything he did. He will be missed terribly and remembered always for his compassion and his presence in the lives of those who loved him. Michael was truly a remarkable man.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Sonya Skelin, and his sister, Careen Skelin. Michael leaves behind to cherish his memory his partner of 17 years, Joyce Graham; his partner's mother, Betty Bagley of Haines City, Florida; his friends, Michael Chism, Butch Amos, along with so many other friends whose lives he touched.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m., all at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City, Florida. Michael's final resting place will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Haines City, Florida.
