Michael Herbert Smith

Michael Herbert Smith, born January 22, 1951, and passed away on March 3, 2024. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who has left a legacy of love, kindness, humor and strength.
Mike had a long and stellar career as an Engineer for CSX Transportation for 39 years.
Born in Dade City, Florida, his family moved to Live Oak where he attended Suwanee High School. He graduated with an AA from Madison Junior College, Florida.
He moved to Tallahassee in 1974 and met the love of his life, Connie Conroy. Married in 1982, they had two sons, Garrett and Casey. He retired 14 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed saying "Every day is Saturday!" Together with his wife, they traveled extensively to Europe, the Caribbean and the US, having just returned from a trip to Arizona for his birthday where he saw the Grand Canyon and his beloved Eagles in concert. He enjoyed fishing, boating, hiking, FSU Football/Baseball, was a talented woodworker, and passionately loved his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Garrett Smith (Ellen), Casey Smith (Kaylin Willis) and his grandchildren Eliza and Bradford; his siblings Jerry Smith (Sandra), Tommy Smith (Marolyn) and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by his MANY loving friends and family.
A Celebration of his Life will be held on Sunday March 10, 2024 at 1:00pm at Bevis Funeral Home in Tallahassee Florida. Memorial donations can be made in Memoriam to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Todd Wahlquist is assisting the family with their arrangements (850-385-2193, www.bevisfh.com).
