Michael Snyder Obituary

Michael (Mike) Edwin Snyder, a loyal husband, a loving father, and a devoted pawpaw, passed away on July 10th, at his residence in North Robinson at the age of 67. Mike was born in Bucyrus on December 1st, 1956, to the late Edwin and Katherine (Fackler) Snyder. Also proceeding in death by his brother Kenneth Snyder.

He was a 1975 Wynford graduate. The story goes, he met the love of his life, Tina (Wagers) Snyder, when she was 17 and he was 21 with a little help from a poka dotted bikini. After being her second senior prom date of the night, they were inseparable. They married on November 14th, 1981. They have two children who survive: Christina (Jeremy) Huston and David (Shelby) Snyder. While his kids were growing up you could see him at every Colonel Crawford girls’ basketball game, football game, and track meet.

Mike wasn’t just an amazing dad, he was an even better pawpaw to his grandkids; Alex Hartman (Christina), Maxton and Makenzie (David). He was just starting to enjoy returning to the Colonel Crawford stands to watch his grandson, Alex, play football. Alex wears the same jersey number, #75, just like his Pawpaw and Uncle David. Mike loved garden tractor pulling with David, Alex and Maxton and watching his grandsons compete in their many kiddy pedal-pulls throughout the years. A Makenzie hug is all her pawpaw needed to make his heart melt.

Also survived by brothers, Douglas (Lisa) Snyder and Randell Snyder, mother-in-law Martha Wagers of Bucyrus, brother-in-law Dan (Stephanie) Wagers of Indiana as well as nieces and nephews.

Mike spent the last 50 years as a tractor mechanic specializing in Allis Chalmers tractors. He graduated from Lincoln Tech, in Indianapolis, Indiana, as a diesel mechanic. He worked at the Lemke AC Dealership in Marion, Ohio, at Schmidt Machine in Upper Sandusky, and has run his own business, Snyder Repair, in North Robinson, for the last 20 years. Mike was the first president of the Crawford Antique Farm Machinery Association and was still a member until his passing. He also has been a part of the Ohio Buckeye Allis Club for many years.

Mike and his son David have spent many years parting out and restoring AC tractors. He was very proud of his collection of unique AC tractors and equipment that he has found over the years. His most proud restorations were his Allis Chalmers A, D-19, WF, and his 1946 WC antique puller.

After retiring, you could find Mike at many Gathering of the Orange Farm Shows around the nation as an Allis Chalmers vendor selling farm toys and memorabilia with his wife Tina, antique tractor pulling, garden tractor pulling, and watching his son truck pulling around Ohio.

Memorial donations can be written to the Crawford Antique Farm Machinery Association.

Family will receive friends Friday, July 12th, from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home where funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00 pm with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Farm themed attire is appropriate. Expressions of sympathy can be left at www.munzpirnstill.com
