Michael D. Southwick

Michael D Southwick, age 62, of Stillman Valley, IL, passed away unexpectedly at FHN in Freeport, IL on Monday, November 4, 2024. 

Mike was born on November 19, 1961, in Rockford, IL to David and Jo Ann Southwick. He grew up in Stillman Valley, where he graduated from Stillman Valley High School in 1979.

Mike was a loving, caring man who loved his family, friends, his ‘55 Bel Air, vans, and dragster. He had a passion for cars, racing, autobody work, mechanics and spending time with friends. He touched the lives of many through his passion for racing and classic cars. 

Mike is survived by his brother Patrick (Christina) Southwick and sister Terri Beach; nieces: Brandie (Nicolas) Mowel; Ashley (Andrew) Gronewold; Amanda (Jeremy) Horner; Ashley (Timothy) Loomis; and Amy (Nicolas) Mullens; nephews: Kyle (Kerri) Henry; Ryan (Kaleb) Southwick; Tyler (Andrea) Volkers; and JJ (Janie) Beach. Mike also was a proud Great Uncle to numerous great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his uncle John (Patricia) Traver. Mike was a stranger to no one and was considered family by many of his wonderful, life-long friends. 

Mike was preceded in death by his parents David and Jo Ann Southwick; grandparents Winifred Jack and Lyle Lucielle (Strang) Southwick and John and Daisy Traver; and brother-in-law Bo Beach. 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 on Saturday morning, November 9, 2024 at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 136 W. Roosevelt St. Stillman Valley, IL, 61084. A visitation will take place from 9:00 until the time of service.
