Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home - ByronStillman Valley, IL – Nancy Ann Roesing, age 79, passed away peacefully at her home in Stillman Valley, IL, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, February 20, 2026. She was born on January 15, 1947, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Charles and Violet (Pihl) Rylander. Nancy grew up in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago before moving to Crestwood, IL, where she lived for 30 years. She married Tom Roesing on October 12, 1968, in Chicago, and together they spent 57 years building a loving family and life. A devoted educator, Nancy spent 25 years as a kindergarten teacher for Cook County School District 130 in Blue Island, IL. Her passion for children was evident in both her career and her family life. She cherished her role as a mother to her three children and as a grandmother and "Meemaw" to her five grandchildren. After retiring, Nancy and Tom enjoyed traveling together, embarking on over 10 trips to Europe and spending every February and March in Cape Coral, Florida. Nancy especially loved European river cruises. An avid scuba diver, she completed over 100 dives in her lifetime. Nancy was deeply devoted to her faith and shared it with those around her. She was known for handing out little Jesus figurines and saying, "Everyone needs a little Jesus, God bless you." She was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Palos Heights, IL. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Violet Rylander, as well as her two brothers, Ed and Charles Rylander, and her sister, Marilyn Barr. Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Tom Roesing of Stillman Valley, IL; her children, Chris (Laura) Roesing of Loxahatchee, FL, Andy Roesing of Tinley Park, IL, and Elise (Keith) McNeff of Stillman Valley, IL; and her cherished grandchildren, Madison, Lincoln, Truman, Brynn, and Gavin. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home, 506 W. Merchant St, Byron, IL 61010. A memorial service will follow at 5:00 PM, officiated by dear family friend Pastor Bruce Gray. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Nancy's name may be directed to Lutheran Social Services of Illinois.
