Michael David Spevack, 75, a longtime resident of Sumter, SC passed away peacefully on Monday, September 22, 2025. His graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 11 AM in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens in Mount Pleasant, SC. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel.
Michael was born March 25, 1950, in Newark, New Jersey, son of the late Louis Isaac Spevack and Evelyn Schowitz Spevack. He graduated from Newark State College, Union, New Jersey in 1972 and received his master's in education from The University of South Carolina in 1983.
Michael retired after twenty-five years as an elementary school teacher with Lee County School District in Bishopville, South Carolina. He also taught religious school on Sunday for many years at Beth Shalom Synagogue in Columbia, SC.
He did several plays with the Sumter Little Theater. His vast collection of DVDs included his love for old, classic movies, TV shows and radio programs and collected old tabletop and floor length radios and antiques. Michael was a member of Beth Sholom Synagogue in Columbia, SC.
In addition to his wife, Sherry Spevack of 43 years; he is survived by daughter, Janine Kaiser (Micheal); son, Louis Spevack; grandchildren, Naliyah and Lincoln Kaiser; brother, Joel Spevack; aunt, Dina Coslit (Michael); nephews, Max Spevack and Mark Brill; sister-in-law, Faye Brill; brother-in-law, Lester Lamhut; first cousins, Andrea Meiseles and Andrew Coslit (Michelle); and numerous other cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in law, Joanne Spevack.
