Michael "Gene" Eugene Stacy, born on July 21, 1945, in Clewiston, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026, in Auburndale, Florida. Gene was the cherished son of J.D. and Dorothy Stacy. He was a beloved husband to Benita Stacy and a devoted father to his children, Tammy Barber (Mark) and Tim Stacy (Kristi). He also reveled in the joy of being a grandfather, leaving a lasting impression on the lives of his grandchildren: Kara Bedwell (Christian), J.T. Stacy, Brett Barber, and Madison Barber. Gene was a proud brother to Dale Stacy, Louise Rector, Evelyn Rushing, Wayne Stacy, and Rocky Stacy, fostering strong familial bonds that enriched his life.

Educated at Pahokee High School and later graduating from the University of West Florida, Gene devoted 35 years of his career teaching Physical Education and coaching at Westwood Middle School. His impact on countless students and athletes was profound, as he inspired a love for physical fitness and teamwork in the hearts of many.

In addition to his role as an educator, Gene was an accomplished music director at several churches, where he shared his passion for music and faith within his community.
