Michael David Stayner

Michael David Stayner, 81, passed away on February 1st, 2026, in Boise, Idaho.

Born January 27, 1945, in Twin Falls, to Hazel (Clinton) and David Stayner, Mike embraced life fully. Known for his outgoing nature and for being the life of the party, he brought laughter, fun, and just enough craziness to make every gathering memorable. He graduated from Twin Falls High School and later from Idaho State University, preparing him for a long and successful career in the beverage industry.

Mike built his career in the beverage industry, working locally at Stein and Spirit Distributing, filling roles ranging from salesman to tap manager over several decades. He earned respect for his strong work ethic, easy-going personality, and ability to connect with everyone he met.

After the passing of his mother, Hazel, Mike moved to Pebble Beach to care for his Aunt Peg. While there, he worked as a Marshal at Poppy Hills Golf Course and enjoyed golfing many of the area's esteemed courses. He later brought Peg back to Boise to be closer to family.

In retirement, Mike combined his love of dogs and entrepreneurship by opening Stayner Doggie Retreat (All Paws Stay-N-Play), where he created a caring, welcoming place for pets and their owners. He adored his own dogs, Taz and Buster, and was known for always having his dogs with him everywhere he went.

In his free time, Mike enjoyed golfing, boating, and bowling, always happiest when surrounded by good company and laughter.

Mike deeply valued his friends and family. He was a devoted father and a proud grandfather, affectionately known as "Papa Mike." He is survived by his two daughters, Sandra Forst (Jason) and their children Hunter, Christian, and Madison; and Kayli Stayner and her children Braedon and Bayli.

The last few years of Mike's life were marked by courage and resilience as he faced and overcame multiple health challenges, beating the odds. True to his spirit, he remained positive through life's punches, meeting each obstacle with determination, strength, and his trademark can-do attitude. He inspired those around him with his perseverance and unwavering optimism.

Mike will be remembered for his lively spirit and steadfast dedication to those he loved. His legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, friends, and all who were fortunate to know him.

Those who knew Mike understood how much he loved golf, so it is only fitting that his Celebration of Life will be held at a golf course. Please join us at the 19th Hole at BanBury Golf Course Eagle (2626 S. Marypost Pl., Eagle, ID 83616) on April 4th from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. to share memories, laughter, and stories in his honor.
