Michael Timothy Steele, age 47, of Gatesville, passed away on Friday morning, June 27, 2025.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at Scott’s Funeral Home with Pastor Andy Davis officiating.
Michael was born at Fort Ord, California, on April 30, 1978, to William and Lisa Steele. He lived in numerous states during his childhood. He graduated from Warren High School in Warren, Arkansas, in May 1996 and joined the United States Air Force. He continued to move around the country after separating from the military, working at various manufacturing jobs. He met Sonia Cavanaugh, in Augusta, Georgia in 2002. They remained friends until they married in October 2020.
Michael is survived by his wife, Sonia; his sons, Blake and Rowdy; Sonia’s three children, Daniel, Alexis, and Trinity Cavanaugh-Holzapfel; mother, Lisa Steward and husband Keith; father, William Steele and wife Susan; brothers, Mathew Steele, Perry Steele and wife Lindsey; step-sisters, Allison Medrano and husband Joe, Abby Dorcene and husband Jeff; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Michael was an organ and tissue donor, helping others live through his unselfish gift. This was a decision he made years ago that was honored by his family.
