Michael Sudbury Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ruebel Funeral Home on Mar. 2, 2026.
Michael Moore Sudbury, age 89, passed away February 15, 2026.

Born Michael Grace Moore in Lincoln, Nebraska, she grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio, and graduated from Vassar College in 1958.

Michael and her husband, Graham Sudbury, shared a long and happy marriage. They spent many cherished years in Taos, New Mexico, where they welcomed family and friends and especially enjoyed attending the Santa Fe Opera. She later spent her final years in Little Rock, Arkansas, near family.

She worked in public relations and development for the Philbrook Museum of Art and the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa and in fundraising and development for a PBS affiliate in Philadelphia. She later remained an active supporter of the arts in Taos. She loved dogs and was devoted to their comfort and care, welcoming several into her life over the years.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Graham Sudbury; her sister, Bidi Lovejoy; and her stepson, Scott Graham Sudbury.

She is survived by her stepdaughter, Susan McArthur; her grandson Caleb McArthur and his wife, Victoria; and her grandchildren William, Andrew, and Amelia. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Margaret Sudbury and Holly Sudbury and by her nieces, the daughters of her late sister Bidi Lovejoy: Kate Lovejoy, Michael Lovejoy, Josephine Jack (Josie), and Heather Lovejoy, and other extended family.

The family remembers with gratitude her late brother-in-law David Sudbury, husband of Holly Sudbury, whose thoughtful guidance and steady support meant so much to Michael and Graham and later to Susan and her family. The family also thanks Sherilyn Watson for her devoted care and friendship and Patrick Kelly for his faithful kindness.

The family further thanks the staff at Woodland Heights for the attentive and compassionate care they provided.

A private memorial and celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Stray Hearts Animal Shelter of Taos or to a Humane Society of the donor's choosing
