He married Mary Armbruster, she preceded him in death on July 30, 2009.
Michael enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter. He enjoyed hunting, golfing and grilling. He was a huge sports enthusiast, and was a fan of U of M and the Detroit Lions.
Michael enjoyed spending time at his cottage in Alpena.
He is survived by his daughter, Roberta Bates and son, Eric Sunday, granddaughter, Giuliana Campbell, sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Ron Bonin, nephew, Ron Bonin Jr and a niece, Danielle Bonin.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements in care of Jowett Funeral Home - New Haven.

To my nephew Eric, niece Roberta, and great niece Giuliana... uncle Pat and I are so very sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. I remember your dad/Grandpa's pride he took with his Weber grill and barbecues. He was king of the grill. We love you and hope to get back in touch. We also want to extend our condolences to the rest of your extended as well.
