Michael Teeple Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Omega Funeral & Cremation Service on Feb. 13, 2026.
Michael Joseph Teeple

January 7, 1952 – February 2, 2026

Michael Joseph Teeple, 74, of Portland, Oregon, died February 2, 2026, of natural causes.

Michael was born January 7, 1952, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, and is a member of the Bay Mills Indian Community, an Ojibwe tribe located in Brimley, Michigan. He moved to Portland, Oregon, in the early 1970s, and made it his home.

He worked for the Ford Motor Company and Freightliner for 20 years. He finished out his working career at the Native American Rehabilitation Association (NARA), where he helped countless people reclaim their lives. He was humble and empathetic; a good person who loved people and would help anyone.

Michael wasn't just loved by his community; he was a beacon, a guiding light who poured his entire being into everyone who walked the Red Road to Recovery at NARA. He gave endlessly and selflessly, with a life force that inspired and healed. The depth of his spirit, his unwavering compassion, and the wisdom he shared will forever echo in their hearts and minds.

Michael is survived by his longtime partner and friend Anna Bonin, his sister Darlene (David) Clem, his brother Thomas Teeple, and his brother-in-law Paul (Rebecca) Munz. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, the rest of his extended family and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Edith Teeple and Clinton Marshall, and his sisters Arlene Manabat (February 27, 2019), Naomi Ethelbah (October 4, 2006), and Rebecca Munz (October 12, 2017).

The memorial ceremony will be held at the Native American Youth and Family Center (NAYA) in Portland, Oregon, on April 18, 2026, at 1 p.m.
