James Ell Candee

January 7, 1982 – January 17, 2026

James Ell Candee was born in Portland, Oregon, to his parents, Rick E. Candee and Sharon L. Candee. He was the middle child of three - a role he filled with quiet strength, steady presence, and his own unmistakable sense of humor.

James worked in manufacturing, specializing in fiberglass. He took pride in honest work, showing up, and doing things the right way. He didn't seek recognition; he earned respect through consistency, loyalty, and genuine care for the people he loved.

He is survived by his two sisters, Leila M. Candee and Sarah L. Candee, who loved him deeply and completely, and by his beloved son, Zachary, who was the greatest joy of his life.

If James could leave a few words, especially for Zachary, they would be these: Some days you won't see the sun for a while. That doesn't mean it's gone. Keep going. Be kind. Work hard. Take care of your people. And always know that I am proud of you every single day.

James wouldn't want the room to stay serious for too long. He would gently but firmly tell Leila that singing at his funeral should be left to the professionals knowing full well she'll probably do it anyway and remind Sarah she's going to be late… but at least she'll look good.

James' love, laughter, and steady presence lives on through his son and the family he cherished. Though we may not always see the sun, his love remains steady and guiding.
