Michael “Scooby” Thompson, 78, of Pampa, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 in Pampa.
No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Scooby was born on August 25, 1947 in Borger to Howard and Laverne Gay Thompson. He lived in Bowers City as a child until his family moved to Pampa. Scooby graduated from Pampa High School and enrolled at an auto body trade school in Denver. Scooby moved back to Pampa and immediately went to work. He worked in pest control, at the Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma, at National Oil Well, as a janitor at the middle school, and as a maintenance technician at the Combs-Worley Building. Scooby retired in 2018.
Scooby enjoyed riding his motorcycle and deeply appreciating classic cars. He had a wonderful sense of humor and would often be the source of much needed comedic relief with a perfectly timed joke. He was a great father who loved his children dearly. Scooby loved his family more than anything, especially his two grandchildren. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, and friend.
Scooby was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Laverne Thompson; and one cousin, Phil Ruggeri.
He is survived by his two sons, Chris Thompson and wife Sharece of Rockaway Beach, Missouri and Alex Thompson of Pampa; two grandchildren, Raiden Thompson of Rockaway Beach, Missouri and Brenlie Casdos of Amarillo; his cousin, Peggy Ruggeri of Oklahoma City; and close friend, Duane “Goober” Meadows of Pampa.
