Michael Preston Tolley, 48, of Cambridge, Maryland passed away on Monday evening, November 28, 2022 in Cambridge.
Born on October 10, 1974 at the Dorchester General Hospital, he was the son of Shirley Pritchett Tolley and the late Eugene William Tolley, Sr.
Michael attended the local schools in Dorchester County and graduated from CSD with the class of 1992. He participated in Little League from age 4 as a bat boy and followed through as an adult coaching his own son. He worked in maintenance and could fix anything he came in contact with. His family considered him their private handy man. Michael was a history buff and enjoyed watching the history channel. He also enjoyed going to South Dorchester to shoot the breeze with his friends.
He was known to drop whatever he was doing to help out his friends when they were in need of something. Michael loved his family and was working in the family catering business. He adored his mother and made sure she was taken care of, especially after his father passed away. Michael was known as “Big PopPop” by his grandchildren.
Surviving him is his mother Shirley; a daughter Taylor Lynne Tolley (Koby); a son Michael Preston Tolley, II; grandchildren Raelynne and Nola Tolley; sister Linda Marshall (Billy); several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death besides his father was a brother Eugene William Tolley, Jr.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 beginning 1:00 pm. at the Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge with Rev. Dave Wooten officiating. A viewing will be held an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Dorchester Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Marshall, Billy Marshall, Koby Tolley, Dave Tippet, Darryl Thompson, Allen Dietrich, Reggie Powley and Tod Tolley.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Michael’s name can be sent to Pleasant Day Adult Daycare Center, 2474 Cambridge Beltway, Cambridge, MD 21613.
