Michael Tulley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Direct Cremation of Maine - Belfast on Dec. 8, 2025.
Michael Henry "Mike" Tulley, 84, of Fairfield, Maine, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025 with his children, daughter in law and his first grandchild Aaron Smith, that made him a "Gramps" by his side.

Born May 25, 1941, in Waterville, Maine, to the late Francis G. Tulley and Beatrice May Pooler, Mike was a devoted family man and a proud lifelong resident of his community. A 1959 Lawrence High School graduate, he served with honor in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee, beginning a life of service and steadfast commitment.

Mike's career included work as a boiler operator, police officer, and long-time truck driver for Fairfield Public Works. He retired from the Maine Department of Transportation, admired for his reliability and responsibility.

Mike and his late wife, Carolyn, together balanced 2 jobs each while raising four children, representing teamwork and perseverance.

Mike was reserved yet deeply loving, showing devotion through actions more than words. He cherished quiet moments, daily routines, like getting the wood for the woodstoves, making sure to call all his children right up

until a week before his passing to let them know a storm was coming and how to prepare, and especially the companionship of his dog, Remi. Many residents of Fairfield will remember "the old man who drove the blue Buick and Subaru with the hound dog, Remi, howling away with her head out the back window."

He was preceded in death by Carolyn, his wife of many years, his sister Patricia F. Nadeau, his two nephews Ricky and Aime (Butch) Nadeau and a beloved grandson, Zachary.

He is survived by his children: Joni (Alan) Smith, Mark (Midge) Tulley, Kelley Frazee, and Matthew (Sara) Tulley; his nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, who carry his legacy of love and strength.

Mike will be remembered for his quiet strength, loyalty to family, and the simple joys he held dear. His memory is a source of comfort and inspiration for all who knew him.

Thank you to all the staff and his doctor Gretchen Morrow at VA-Togus for taking care of our father for many years and to the amazing Beacon Hospice team that took pride in caring for our father during his final days. Graveside service will take place Spring of 2026.
