Michael Tynanes Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by O'ahu Mortuary on Jan. 28, 2026.
Michael Tynanes Jr., fondly known as "Tiny" to his friends and "Dad/Papa" to loved ones. Born on August 18, 1943, in Danbury, Connecticut. Tiny was a man whose larger-than-life personality belied his nickname. On January 2, 2026, surrounded by the love and warmth of his family, he peacefully passed away in Honolulu, Hawaii, marking the end of an era filled with laughter, generosity, and an abundance of love.

Tiny's journey through life was as vibrant and dynamic as the man himself. A proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he dedicated years of service to his country with the honor and valor that would become a hallmark of his character. Following his military career, Tiny continued his commitment to service as an H.P.D. Reservist for over 13 years, where his dedication to community was unwavering. His professional life was marked by a successful tenure as a salesman for Atlas Electric Co., where his charm and wit were as much a part of his sales technique as his extensive knowledge of the industry.

But it was as President of Generators Hawaii Corp., a family business, where Tiny truly shone. His leadership and entrepreneurial spirit were the driving forces behind the company's success, and his employees and colleagues knew him as a man who led by example, with a generous spirit and a ready smile.

Michael's heart, however, belonged to his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife of over 60 years, Sheila (Wallwork) Tynanes, a love story that served as an inspiration to all who knew them. He was a pillar of strength and joy to his last surviving sibling, his sister Sandra Noe, and his beloved children Sonya (Floyd) Werner, Maurice (Bridget) Tynanes, Sophia (Michael) Tynanes-Nakasone, Miles Tynanes, Mitchell Tynanes, Marcus (Amber) Tynanes, and Secret Tynanes. Michael's role as a grandfather and great-grandfather was one he cherished deeply, and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of his life leaving behind a legacy of love and togetherness.

Tiny, life was always about the people he shared it with. His capacity to enjoy time with his family and friends was unmatched, and his presence was a source of comfort and joy. Those who had the privilege of knowing Tiny would describe him as loving, funny, and generous-a man whose laughter could fill a room and whose kindness knew no bounds.

As we bid farewell to Michael Tynanes Jr., we remember a man whose life was a testament to the power of love, the strength of family, and the joy of friendship. Tiny's legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched, and his memory will be a beacon of light for generations to come. Today, we honor not just the life he lived, but the countless ways he made our lives better simply by being a part of them. Rest in peace, Tiny, and thank you for the joy you've given us.

Visitation 8:30am, Friday, February 20, 2026 at St. George's Catholic Church in Waimanalo. Mass at 10:30am. Burial promptly at 1:00pm at the National Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl).
