Michael V. Ules Sr.

1942 - 2023

Michael V. Ules, Sr., died on October 20, 2023, at the Oneida Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing.



Michael was born in 1942 in Manhattan, NY to Katherine Bellefountane and Vincent Ules.

Mike grew up in Greenport, Long Island, attending local schools. At the age of 17, in 1959, he joined the US Marine Corps.



At one time Mike raised nine children. His first priority was his children; feeding nine children was no easy feat. To that end Mike worked two full-time jobs for 30 years at the same time; he was employed full-time with Utica Cutlery as well as the Oneida County Dept. of Social Services, as a fraud investigator.

While working at the county, Mike fell in love with Mary Ata, a child welfare worker and probation officer. On October 17, 1992, Mike and Mary were joined in marriage at Sacred Heart Church.



He leaves behind his wife, Mary Ules who cared for him for 11 years through his illness.

He also leaves behind his children Laura, Michelle, Tina, and Mikey, Jr. (biological children).

He is also survived by his four children with his second wife: Lynn, Richard, Frankie, and Anthony.

Lastly, he leaves behind his beloved stepdaughter, Martina Ata.

He had numerous grandkids but Martina's children he was closest to, as when she became ill he obtained legal custody of (Michaelina) Mikayla Macner and Franchesca Giglio and raised them for several years.

He also leaves behind a special family friend, Joe Makarowski who took Mike to every doctor appointment and surgery several times a year and did much more than we could ever mention.

He was predeceased in death by his biological daughter, Chrissie.

A special thank you to Ken Smith, MDF Coordinator at Oneida Center without whose help Mary could not have adequately cared for Mike.



A note of gratitude to neighbor, Frank Buffa, whose help Mary greatly appreciated.

Arrangements will be private and a Catholic Mass of Christian Burial took place at Mike's Parish, Sacred Heart and St. Mary of Czestochowa, New York Mills. Inurnment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
