Michael K. Undercofler, 91, of Hudson, NH, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Michael was born in Woodland, PA, on July 17, 1934, to the late Albert Clay and Anna Ruth (Peters) Undercofler. Following graduation from Clearfield High School, Michael enlisted in the Air Force where, as a weapons mechanic, he worked with the H-bomb. After training in Albuquerque NM, he was stationed at Caribou Air Force Station in northern Maine where he met his wife, Natalie Ann Somers. They married in 1956 in Caribou ME. Michael extended his Air Force training with Tech School to eventually become an electronics engineer: most notably at Sanders Associates in NH, where he moved his young family, that now included sons Joe and Steve.

As a husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Michael (or Mike as he was known) was a true backbone and champion. When Mike talked about his family or friends, he celebrated them! He reveled in their accomplishments and talents, but mostly he respected their kindness and compassion. Though he always preferred to stay in the background, his accomplishments were far-reaching as Mike was gifted in many ways. He single-handedly completed construction of the house where his young family grew and thrived. Mike was the go-to-guy for anyone needing help with car repair, home improvements, or any technical/mechanical matter. He was never too busy to offer support. He was very active in his sons' endeavors: assistant coaching Babe Ruth baseball, overseeing the complete restoration of a 1969 AMC Javelin, inspiring a built-from-scratch guitar amplifier, and tackling numerous DIY ambitions. He (Papa) and Natalie (Nana) served as early and dedicated educators for their grandson (also named Michael). Mike was passionate about NH gems: finding and faceting them. He and friends Gordon, Don, and Bob would bushwack their way through many of NH's mountains and mines with 50 lb packs on their back, or heavier if their day of digging and sledgehammering proved fruitful. He was an active member of the Capital Mineral Club in Concord NH. In later years, Mike and his entire family were a driving force in the rehabilitation of Hudson's Benson Park into the beautiful walking park it is today. While in his eighties, Mike volunteered 3 days a week, doing back-breaking work, to keep the park clean and safe for its many visitors. More recently, Mike's joy was attending daily breakfast at the local McDonald's with his many friends who worked or met there, and anyone wanting to join in on the conversation.

He is survived by his wife Natalie, with whom he shared 69 years of marriage; his two sons, Joseph and Stephen, his daughters-in-laws Cindy and Betsy; his grandson Michael; and his sister Rose.

Mike's Celebration of Life will be held at the Vanderbilt Room (upstairs of Friendly Red’s restaurant) at 48 Lowell Rd, Hudson, NH 03051, on Sunday, February 15, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The family will receive guests from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, and the celebration of life will follow: Food is provided. Assisting the family with arrangements is the Cremation Society of NH, Nashua.
