Michael Edward Underwood

Michael Edward Underwood was born in Jacksonville, FL on April 12, 1962 to Willie T. Underwood, Sr. and Mae Etta Underwood.

Michael attended schools in Jacksonville, FL and received his education at Jean Ribault High School. Michael was a lover of sports, especially football. (Go Miami Dolphins!) He was an amazing Soul Food cook, jack of all trades, and master of carpentry and roofing.

To know Michael is to know that he was known for his big smile, loving heart, and occasional hard stare, often mistaken for mean.

Michael's best trait was his protective nature. He was a true protector. The name "Michael" was more than fitting.

He departed this life on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, and was preceded in death by his father, Willie T. Underwood, Sr.; mother, Mae Etta Underwood; brothers, Paul A. Malone and Willie T. Underwood, Jr.; sisters, Linda Regina Osgood and Mary Sandra Champion; and loving companion, Priscilla Renee Edmondson.

He leaves to mourn his passing his children, LaTamara Underwood Jones (Michael), Michael Underwood, Jr. (Shuna), step-children, Derrick Ben Edmondson (Shica), Gracie Edmondson, Robert Edmondson (Shannon), Jermaine Edmondson and Cynthia Edmondson; Grandchildren, Laderricka, Derrick, Michael Underwood III, Micaiah, Zy'irra, BJ, Jermya, Araina, Amiya, and Makari; Siblings, Theresa Gamble, Patricia Dowdell, Karen Underwood Eiland (Jimmy), and Lewis Champion, Jr. (Brother-in-Law), as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
