Michael VanGordon Obituary
He was born in Hartford City on September 13, 1962, the baby of seven children to Arlo Edgar VanGordon "Ed" and Dorothy Irene (Swim) VanGordon Bontrager. His dad passed away on April 3, 1979 and his mom passed away on October 7, 2012.
Mike graduated from Blackford High School in 1981. He worked at 3-M Company in Hartford City as a forklift driver. He was a member of the USW Local #070186.
He was known for his great sense of humor and loved making people laugh. He was full of character and had many sides to his personality. His bright, infectious smile could light up any room.
Mike enjoyed spending time in his garden and had a knack for repairing lawn mowers.
He formerly coached Little League in Hartford City. He was an avid Reds fan and also enjoyed watching and cheering on the Bengals.
Mike will be sadly missed by his children, Evan Michael Arlo VanGordon of Hartford City and Allison D. VanGordon (husband, Cesar Viera, Jr.) of Carlsbad, NM; his fur babies, Lyla and Nyx; best friend, Tom Kreischer; siblings, Esther (husband, O'Dell) Lakes of Carmel, Joy (husband, Dave) Bellinski of Eaton, David (wife, Cindy) VanGordon of Hartford City and Nancy (husband, Michael) Lager of Virginia Beach, VA; several nieces and nephews.
He is also preceded in death by his siblings, Sharon VanGordon-Fry and Jonathan VanGordon and sister-in-law, Toni VanGordon.
Funeral service will be Friday, April 3, 2026 at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St., Hartford City with Pastor Kevin Lex officiating. Burial will follow at Hartford City Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 2, 2026 from 4 to 8 pm and from 9 to 11 am Friday, April 3, 2026 at Keplinger Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Blackford County High School Boosters, 2392 North State Road 3, Hartford City, IN 47348
