Michael Lee "Mike" Walker

Michael Lee Walker, 78, of Towanda, Kansas, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, December 21, 2025. Born on June 26,1947 in Wellington Kansas, Michael was the son of Don and Gaila (Morgan) Walker. He grew up in Kansas graduating from Udall High School in 1965.

Michael joined the Navy in December of 1966 where he completed a tour in Vietnam. Michael loved his country and felt he had a duty to serve. He was one of the founding members of the Vietnam Veterans Family Reunion, an annual event held in El Dorado. He proudly supported the renaming of the event to the Kansas Veterans Festival, a time to celebrate all Veterans. He continued his Navy career retiring as a Combat Corpsman Senior Chief from the Naval Reserves.

Michael resumed farm life enjoying the stillness of the farm, woodworking and simply being outdoors.

He is survived by his Wife Nancy Hildreth-Walker of Towanda, Daughter Michele (Terry) Lewis of Virginia, Son Chad (Darcie) Walker of Wichita, His siblings Fonda Lafrenz of Hiawatha, Melody (Art) Smith of Udall and Scott (Cathy) Walker of Cedar Vale, stepsons Scott (Monica) Porter of Towanda, Zachariah (Tanya) Ward of Alaska, and Paul (Ally) Harding of Towanda as well as 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
