When I read the news of Mike's passing, I just came to a complete stop. I worked with Mike at MIT and I knew he had been working when he could, but I didn't want to press, bring up a sensitive topic, or inquire. I just thought he wanted to keep working as normal when he could. I was working remotely in the spring and had a computer issue and I was so thrilled when he responded back to my IT help request. "Mike is on today!!!" I thought and I told him how happy I was to be able to sort through something with him. He was such a warm and kind soul. I know he helped me so much when I first started at MIT at the very end of 2021. My prayers and love to Cindy, Ben, and Leo. Rest easy Mike-you made the world a better place to be.

Mike was such a warm and kind person. He always had a calm and positive presence whenever you were around him. One of the last conversations I remember having with him was regarding a football game that both our sons played against each other. Afterwards, I remember thinking, wow that team is very fortunate to have Mike as one of the coaches. We lost one of the good ones far too soon. Sending thoughts of peace, strength and comfort to his family and friends.

Mike was a great person and I had personally worked with him on the IS team at MIT for many years. He would always love to talk about his two boys and his love of football and family. Additionally, always enjoyed the walks and the football throwing during the lunch breaks. I will always, forever remember him for his smile, being a friend, great attitude, always learning new things and his sense of humor.

A wonderful soul! Mike had a wonderful way of let me know he was gettin in my computer with his pop-up notes in my screen. One of my favorite memories is our two hour conversation while he was updating our system at dental, about his incredible journey at MIT, which inspired me so much.
His kindness, strength, and radiant smile will be deeply missed.
My heartfelt condolences go out to his family and his work family, IS team!! May you find comfort in the cherished memories you shared with him.

My first memory of Mike is my from my first week at MIT. My mom had just passed and Mike was the first people to offer condolences upon my return to work. I remember thinking this was so thoughtful since we had only spoken once before.
Mike was always thoughtful and ready to help. And I usually needed a lot of tech help which he provided with friendly teasing and an easy smile. Mike was respected, well liked and will be missed.
My deepest condolences to his family.

One of the best memories of MIT is Mike. Every opportune time that I got Mike due to an issue with my system Mike made you feel great and fixed the issue and taught you alittle something along the way. Always wore a smile and always willing to talk about his boys and show pictures when they went on holiday. Blessings to the family.

Mike just had the nicest smile ever! When he would come to service a computer in the OBGYN department, he would REFUSE to go into the exam room without being personally escorted for fear of walking in on a patient during an exam. It didn't matter if we assured him that we had no more patients for the day, he didn't want to take the chance...lol! Just a truly pleasant person all around and in my 20 years at MIT Health, I only ever heard good things about Mike. When the 2nd Mike started at MIT, we (OBGYN) referred to Mike M. as "Mike/Mike" and Mike Walter would forever and always be know as just "Mike". We will certainly miss you! Eventually, we will all see your smile again on the other side.

My first memory of Mike was at MIT. Mike was a warm heart of compassion and kindness. No call from his co-workers would aggravate him. He would come up on the third floor with a smile. Yes he's gone too soon, you will be greatly missed Mike, IS will not be the same without you. Rest well my friend.

I will always remember Mike 's smile and then he'll say Hi Reg. After that greeting we would talk about the Red Sox or his favorite football team 'The Patriots'. Even though we didn't see each other as much after the pandemic, because we were working remotely we would still be in contact whenever we
had tech issues. I will surely miss him. My condolences to his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
