Michael Wayne Ward was born September 25, 1973, in Missouri to Charles and June Ward, the youngest brother of Linda and Ricky Ward. He grew up in De Soto, Kansas, returning to Missouri where he graduated from Osceola High School in the summer of 1992.

In his later years, Mikey was also a resident of Olathe, Kansas and eventually settled in nearby Overland Park, Kansas where he passed away peacefully in his home on October 2, 2025, at the age of 52.

Mikey will be remembered most by his loved ones as a devout family man, especially dedicated and fiercely protective of his siblings and many nieces and nephews who regarded him as a brother. Mikey was a loyal and beloved son, brother, nephew, uncle and friend to many.

Mikey was genuine in nature and contagiously positive. His unforgettable laugh was a distinct part of the soundtrack of every family holiday. Despite the obstacles he was faced with in his life, which others may have found insurmountable, he continuously overcame.

His hobbies included classic movies, checking in on his family and friends, and exploring on his e-bike.

Mikey was preceded in death by his father Charles Ward, mother June Ward, sister Linda Howard (Ward), and many other beloved family members. He is survived by his brother Ricky (Karen) Ward, James Howard, and 9 nieces and nephews. Also left to cherish Mikey's memory are his many great nieces and nephews and his extensive family spanning across Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and beyond.

Mikey was eternally grateful for everyone who touched his life, and him theirs, over the last 52 years, and he made sure to never miss an opportunity to express that. A lasting lesson he has instilled in and left with us all.

He will be laid to rest by his family at the De Soto Cemetery (34500 W 87th St, De Soto, KS 66018), next to his mother June and sister Linda.
