Michael Wassink Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 8, 2025.
Michael A. Wassink; AKA: Mike; AKA Rockin Robin was born in Tacoma, Washington, on November 30th, 1942. Rockin Robin shifted his Peterbilt into gear, blowing the stacks, and hit the jake-break slowing him down easy in front of Heaven's Gate precisely at 3:58 p.m. on November 6, 2025 at the ripe old age of 82 years, 11 months, and 7 days
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Byron & Elvira, his siblings Richard, Sonja, and his twin sister Patty.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Leah. They first met in 1968 in Moses Lake, Washington, working at Tristate Outfitters Department Store. Mike often boasted about how quickly he fell in love, sweeping her up and whisking her away in just three months. Then, on a fate-filled day, December 7, 1968 they made a pact that lasted his lifetime. Together, they sailed in a sea of family and friends for 56 years, 47 weeks, and 6 days! And if you knew our dad
Mike will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Deborah, her spouse, Corky, and their three children Kali, Jakob, and Teghan; Stacey, her spouse JB and two daughters Rayanne and Brook; Rebecca, her spouse Matthew, and four children, Joslynn, Alec, Samantha, and Ember, eleven great-grandchildren, his siblings, Sharon and Paula, and many nieces and nephews.
As a young man, Mike enlisted in the Navy, serving from 1959-1963, where he was a Seaman aboard the USS Topeka, CLG-8. While in the Navy, his love for boxing won him many championships, almost making it all the way to the Olympics, only to suffer a TKO because of his age. Yep, in his words, he was always making trouble, and they found out his real age and he was just too young to compete.
After leaving the Navy, Mike worked as a logger, long-haul trucker, and ventured into his own business hauling cars across the map. His favorite career path was in sales. Our dad knew no strangers! And he enjoyed meeting and conversing with all the people with whom he crossed paths. Honestly, we think he was a professional extrovert!
Right up to the end, Mike's breath was only used to confirm the greatest truth of his life; In those final, blessed moments, he reminisced about the fierce, unwavering love he held for his wife, his three beautiful daughters, and every one of his amazing grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
