Michael Harry Weir, 83, of Mankato, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

The family is being assisted by Mankato Mortuary, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Michael was born on April 21, 1942, in Mankato, MN, to Harry and Chloris (Sayre) Weir. The sixth son of seven boys and 3 girls, he grew up in the Vernon Center/Good Thunder area on the family farm. He attended school in Vernon Center. The family moved to a farm in the Madison area in 1956. Michael graduated from Madison High School in 1960. On February 8, 1964, he married Beverly Thompson, beginning a beautiful journey together that spanned more than 61 years. Michael and Beverly shared an enduring friendship and partnership, raising four children and creating countless cherished memories.

In retirement, Michael found joy in attending his grandchildren’s activities and spending winters in Lake Havasu, Arizona. He enjoyed a long and rewarding career as a proud member of the International Iron Workers Union Local 512, where he worked for over 42 years. His leadership and dedication were evident through his service as a business agent and his involvement on numerous committees. Michael took great pride in his work, but his greatest source of pride was his family and their accomplishments. Known for his generous spirit and wonderful sense of humor, he touched the lives of many.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly; his sons Mitchell, Patrick, Matthew (Angie), and Travis (Cynthia); grandchildren Avery, Taylor, Jack, Henry, Charlie, Delaney, Ben, and Zoe; siblings Thomas (Jan) Weir, Mary Beth (Gary) Bushlack, Carmen (Dave) Meyer, and Jeanine (James) Sargent; cousin Donna Kopischke, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Eugene, Robert, Roger, Dennis, and Jack; father-in-law Jack Thompson; nephews Benjamin Bushlack and Timothy Weir; and niece Kari Kopischke.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at St. Croix Hospice for the exceptional care provided to Michael in his final days.
