Michael Wilz Obituary
Michael John Wilz was born on October 16, 1948, the son of Carl J. and Lillian F. (Koenig) Wilz in Cincinnati, OH. He was raised and educated in the Cincinnati area, where he graduated from Moeller High School in 1966.
On February 23, 1967, Michael enlisted into the United States Air Force., where he completed Basic Training in Amarillo, TX. He proudly served his country, being stationed at the Minot Air Force Base, where is first thoughts were "Oh No!". But once in Minot, he met his future wife and learned how to square dance. Michael was honorably discharged on December 9, 1970.
Michael was united in marriage to Dorthy L. Klug on October 25, 1969. Upon his discharge from the United States Air Force, Michael attended the Northern Kentucky University, Highland Heights, KY, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Music, he also worked at the Nashville Library. He furthered his education while in Minot by attending Minot State University, He was also employed at the Gordon B. Olson Library.
Michael was a very gifted musician, and was able to successfully play the piano, keyboard, accordion and the guitar. He enjoyed reading all types of literature and was a MASH fan.
Michael is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorthy; children: Steph (Dan Springer) Wilz, David (Shannon) Wilz; two step-grandchildren: Cheyenne and Brooklyn; siblings: Steve (Marie) Wilz and Mary Bell; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Terry and a brother-in-law Dennis "Denny" Bell.
Visitation: Monday, December 8, 2025, from 10 am until service time at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Funeral Service: Monday, December 8, 2025, 11 am at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot. The service will be livestreamed for the public to view and can be accessed by going to Thompson-Larson Funeral Home's YouTube channel at

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
