Michael "Mike" Wimbish Sr. went home to be with Jesus on May 15th, 2025. Born January 20th, 1940, in Sharondale, Kentucky, to Charles and Evelyn Mae Wimbish. Mike was the third born of 12 brothers and sisters, whom he loved and loved to give a hard time. Mike was married to the love of his life, Loraine Wimbish. They were married for 62 years. Mike and Loraine have three sons: Michael Jr. (Teresa), Greg (Debbie), and Mark (Carrie). Mike loved his 8 grandchildren (Kelsey Marie, Thomas (Paige), Keith, Kevin (Stephanie), Clayton, Jase, Lillian Mae, and Waylon) and two great grandchildren (Samuel and George). Mike worked most of his life doing auto body repair, where he became very talented and had several classic cars awarded and recognized for his excellent work. He also drove a school bus for Pickerington Schools for over 20 years. He loved working with the fellow bus drivers and participating in the bus driver rodeos. Mike had too many hobbies to count, but some included: restoring old cars, golfing, fishing, and summers at Apple Valley. Mike loved Jesus and served as a deacon in the church for multiple years. While the family mourns these days, we know that Mike is alive in the presence of Christ. Our hope for those who knew Mike is that they come to know Jesus as Lord as he did.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Michael, his granddaughter Kelsey Marie, his Brothers David, James, Roy, and Rodney, and his sisters Rita and Doll.
Visitation and home going service will be at O.R. Woodyard Co. South Chpael, 1346 S. High St., Columbus, Ohio, on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 from 11:00 am until time of funeral service at 1:00 pm. Pastor Mark Wimbish officiating. Internment will follow at Fernwood Cemetery, Lockbourne, Ohio.
