Michael Lewis Wynn was born on January 29, 1957, in Cocoa, Florida, to the late Sidney Wynn Jr. and Helen Louise Wynn.
At just three years old, Michael left Florida with his family and moved to Newark, New Jersey. He later lived in East Orange before settling in Montclair, New Jersey, where he built a life grounded in hard work, family, and friendship.
From a young age, Michael showed remarkable determination and a love for learning new skills. He began working alongside his father in the family's contracting and masonry business-carrying blocks and mixing cement as early as age 10. By the time he was 15, he had become a skilled brick mason. Over the years, Michael became a true jack of all trades, mastering roofing, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work.
Michael also had many passions at an early age. He was a dedicated martial artist and a talented musician who learned to play the trumpet by ear. Above all, one of his favorite pastimes was playing cards-a game that brought him laughter, competition, and connection with those he loved.
Michael was a devoted Christian whose faith guided him throughout his life. His commitment to serving others led him to become a Deacon, where he found great purpose in helping and uplifting those around him.
Michael passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025.
He is survived by his children: his oldest daughter, Helen Michelle Forsey; daughter, Lateesha Christian; and son, Majel Wilder. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Hassan R. Forsey (affectionately known as B. Bop), Dedrick A. Powell (Chewkie), Dallas L. Powell, and Alnisa Helen Michelle (Lady).
Michael was preceded in death by his sister, Eleanor Jean Wynn, and his brother, Gary Wynn. He is survived by his devoted brother, Sidney Wynn III, and is also remembered with love by his late sister-in-law, Caroline Ruth Waddell-Wynn, and his sister, Cynthia Wynn.
He will be lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews: Lamont Wynn, Shereese Waddell, and Sendie Raya Wynn; Duane Harris,David Harris Jr, Rasjohn Harris , Kenneth Harris and Lavonta Harris and his great-niece and great-nephew, Samyiah Ruth Wynn and Maverick Sidney McCrimon.
Michael was also blessed with an extended family like no other-Barbra Brown, David Harris ,Margret Harris , James Peace, Lee Osborne, and the late Jacq Steeds-each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Michael will be remembered for his faith, strength, skill, humor, and unwavering love for his family. His hands built more than just walls-they built memories, bonds, and a lasting legacy.
