In Loving Memory of
Michael Vincent Zurek
Michael Vincent Zurek, 34, of
Seguin, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on October 25, 2025. He was born on February 13, 1991, to Charles "Chuck" and Maria "Mary" Zurek. He will be remembered for his big personality, quick wit, and the way he could light up any room he walked into.
Michael loved food, loved animals, loved people, and loved God. On April 27, 2025, he took one of the most meaningful steps of his faith journey when he was baptized at Community Bible Church in San Antonio. His relationship with Christ gave him peace and direction, and he was proud to share that faith with others.
Born in San Antonio and raised in Seguin by his mother, Mary, and father, Rick Gonzales, Michael attended trade school in San Marcos, where he specialized as an electrician, a lineman, and a welder. He went on to work as a general contractor with Rick Gonzales Masonry, where he was known for his care for everyone and their interests, especially when it involved food and sweets, which were a lifelong passion of his.
Michael loved spending time with his best friends Chris Lopez, Albert Lopez, and his wife Bianca, and their children Anaya, Ala'Zay, Ivan, Illyana, Avery, and his family of friends, laughing, joking, and finding joy in everyday moments. He was also great with animals - especially dogs - and had a heart that was sweet, kind, and loyal.
He had a special place in the hearts of all who knew him; he never met a stranger. He faced his share of struggles, but he never lost his faith or his sense of humor. Even through difficult times, he trusted that God had a plan for him.
He is survived by his loving mother Maria "Mary" Elena Zurek and father Ricardo "Rick" Gonzales; his brother Zachary Charles Zurek and wife Guadalupe Zurek, and their children Zachary, Veronica, and Noah; his sister Amy Jordan, husband Mike Farley, and son James "Jimmy" Jordan; his sister Cassandra Gonzales, her daughters Katlyn McClusky, husband Dillon McClusky, and their son Arthur John; and Ashley Hernandez and husband Joaquin Hernandez; his sister Naticia Jimenez, husband Cisco Jimenez, and their children Allison and Jacob; his cousins Albert and Christina Saenz and family; Crystal Saenz-Garza and husband Henry Garza, and family; James Guerrero; and Danielle Guerrero and family.
He is also survived by his Aunt Dianne and Uncle Bill Pickett, and their children, Shanna Pickett and Andrea "Andi" Pickett Cooper, and their families; Uncles Robert Ortiz and Johnny Ortiz, and their families.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Joseph Zurek; his grandparents, Joe and Lela Zurek, and Pedro and Gabina Ortiz; his Aunt, Irma Linda Ortiz, and his cousin Ernest Saenz.
Michael's laughter, energy, and love will never be forgotten. Though he's no longer with us, his family finds peace knowing he's finally home, free, and in the loving arms of his Savior.
"Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you."
James 4:8
"I desire mercy, not sacrifice. For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
Matthew 9:13
