Michaela Carpenter, lovingly known as Kayla or KK, passed away at the age of 29 on March 29th, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio. She was born on February 14th, 1996 in Belleville, Illinois.
Michaela is now reunited with her dear Aunt Melissa Brewer, Aunt Joyce Carpenter, and great grandparents, who have preceded her in death. She leaves behind a legacy of love and a trail of cherished memories for her surviving family members, including her three precious girls, Zella, Zamya, and Rainbow. She is also survived by her parents, Michael Carpenter and Mary Jane Brewer, siblings LaQuana Carpenter, Michael Carpenter (Sierra Vasquez), LaQuan Carpenter, Anthony Carpenter, Mykia Carpenter, Jayden Mansfield Carpenter, and Monet Payne. Her grandparents - Doris Green, Michael Doss, Richard Green, Phyllis Lockard, Jim Brewer, and her Great Grandmother Claudia Blackwell, as well as her Godmother Lisa Baur, stepmother Tammy Mansfield, aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous extended family members and friends.
Michaela attended Merrillville High School and was a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ, having accepted Him at a young age under the guidance of her grandmother, Doris Green. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she shared her love and belief with all those around her. She had a giving heart and loved to be a caregiver . She found Joy working at Nursing facilities and creating smiles for the residents. That caring heart didn’t stop there it overflowed to each one of her grandparents! She went above and beyond to make sure their needs were met.
She had a special way of leaving her mark on people, with her ability to light up any room. Those close to her will remember her fondly for her sense of humor and the way she would playfully fuss when getting her hair combed as a child. While we mourn the loss of Michaela, we also celebrate the joy and love she brought into our lives. Her memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her.
In this time of grief, may we find solace in the precious memories and moments we shared with Michaela. Rest in peace, dear Michaela Carpenter. Your light will continue to shine brightly in our hearts forever.
