Michaelene Haverty Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 13, 2025.
Michaelene Haverty, 68, of Shamokin, passed away peacefully Friday evening, April 11th, 2025 at her home, surrounded by her loving family after a year plus long battle with cancer.

Born in Danville on October 29th, 1956 to the late Victor and Mary (Ruskuski) Stadnicki. She graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes High School.

On January 25th, 1986 in St. Stanislaus Church, she married Michael Thomas Haverty, who preceded her in death in April of 2014. She was a member of Mother Cabrini Church, Shamokin.

Michaelene was a longtime employee of Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, where she worked on and off for decades, eventually becoming a Unit Desk Clerk for many consecutive years. She loved her job and coworkers, even if her thick sense of sarcasm hid it at times. Everyone who knew "Mick" personally knew her unique personality, and the brand of humor she could infuse into any situation.

A born & raised "Fifth Warder" and 100% Polish, she was extremely proud of her heritage and loved to make Polish foods such as pierogis, kielbasa, potato pancakes and golabki.

Michaelene was an avid and loyal football fan, and could always be found enjoying Notre Dame games on Saturday and Miami Dolphin games on Sunday. (And rooting against the Jets and Patriots everyday

She loved music possibly more than anything. Owner of 2 jukeboxes and countless records and vinyls, she loved all kinds of music from Elvis and The Beatles, to Billy Joel and The Beach Boys, Aretha Franklin and The Jackson 5, to more modern artists like Naked Eyes, Cher and Taylor Swift. She loved nothing more than hearing an old record clink into place and start playing its crackly magic.

One of her favorite pastimes was card games. She loved games such as pinochle, and Uno.

An avid animal lover, Michaelene adopted three kitten siblings (Victor, Vee and Killian) from the ASPCA so they would not be separated. The original foster parent found out they had been adopted together and thanked her personally. She also loved dogs and had many throughout her life, including Rudy and Scooby.

She is survived by a son, Daniel Haverty, of Shamokin; a daughter, Megan Haverty, of Wyomissing; a brother, Steven Stadnicki and his wife, Susan of Treverton; a sister-in-law Rose Ann Derr and her husband Gary, of Shamokin; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Stadnicki-Dehoughton.

Michaelene will be forever missed by more people than she knows. She was hardworking, loyal, and funny as all hell. The world is left a truly darker place without her.

We love you more than all the stars in the sky, for eternity. Thank you for everything, Mom. Go find Dad.

Mickey, Kathy and I hung out in high school. I also did her and her mom´s hair for a long time. She was fun. I loved her relationship with her mom. Both were quirky. I am sorry for her family for such a loss. I did not see her for a long time. I did not know she was sick. Pease with the Lord, Mickey
