It is with profound reverence that we announce the peaceful transition of Pastor Emeritus Micheal Ray Gonzales, born on March 5, 1958, in Pineville, LA, who departed this life on November 16, 2025. Micheal Ray, as he was affectionately known, was a person of immense faith and a beacon of light to all those who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was a testament to the verse found in Matthew 5:16, "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
Micheal Ray was the heart and soul of the Congregational First Baptist Church of Marksville, Louisiana. His deep commitment to his faith, his church, and his community made him a respected and cherished figure. He filled many lives with words of wisdom, comfort, and encouragement, always reflecting his love for God and his fellow beings. His passion for fishing was only surpassed by his love for pastoring. He found tranquility in both pastimes, often comparing the patience and perseverance required in fishing to the journey of faith.
Micheal Ray's legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched. His life was a beautiful example of service, love, and faith. The public viewing followed by the Wake service will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at the Congregational First Baptist Church, 215 Legion Drive, Marksville, Louisiana. It will be followed by the public viewing and visitation on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 10:00am at the same location. The funeral service will commence on the same day at 11:00am, and the final committal rites will be conducted at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Marksville, Louisiana at 12:30pm.
