Michele D'Agostino, 93, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025, at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born in Giovinazzo, Bari, Italy, Michele was the beloved son of the late Tommasso and Maria (Cirillo) D'Agostino. He immigrated to the United States as a teenager and made Springfield his home, where he built a life grounded in hard work, family, and community. A proud Italian American, Michele cherished his heritage and remained deeply connected to his roots. He had a passion for cycling and was known for racing 10-speed bikes and actively participating in various cycling clubs in the area. Rain or shine, Michele could often be seen riding his bike to work, a symbol of his strength, determination, and love for the outdoors. Michele worked for many years as a skilled welder and was a proud member of Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 63. His craftsmanship and dedication earned him the respect of many in his trade. Though he worked many years as a welder, Michele's true passion was always music. His basement was his sanctuary, filled with the warmth of vinyl records and the steady pulse of his beloved drum set. Michele had a special gift-not just for playing his drums, but for knowing when to jump in and let the music carry him. At weddings, backyard parties, and any place where live music was played, it wasn't uncommon to see Michele make his way to the stage, take a seat behind a kit, and bring the room to life. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Paula "Dorothy" Goldblatt D'Agostino, his son David J. D'Agostino, and his three brothers, Frank, Ralph, and Tony. Michele leaves behind his three devoted children: Michael D'Agostino and his wife Virginia of Hampden, MA; Louis D'Agostino of Suffield, CT; and Stephen D'Agostino of Nantucket Island. He was the adored grandfather of Michael, Luke, Natalie, and Gianna D'Agostino, who brought immense joy to his life. A Calling hour will be held on Monday, August 18, from 10am-11am at Byron Keenan Funeral Home & Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA 01118, Followed by Words of Remembrance. Burial will be private. Michele's legacy of strength, perseverance, and deep love for his family and culture will continue to live on in all who knew and loved him.
