Michele Douglas Obituary

Michele M. Douglas, 76, of Houston, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 9, 2025. She was born October 18, 1949, in Pittsburgh, the daughter of the late Mary Brenchak Popovich. Michele was a 1967 graduate of South High School in Pittsburgh and graduated from the Washington Hospital School of Nursing. Strong in her faith, she was a member of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church in Canonsburg. A selfless mum, gram and friend, she was always caring for others beyond her retirement from nursing. Michele was known and loved for her quick wit and sass. She enjoyed bingo, watching the birds while enjoying her morning coffee alongside her daily crosswords, word search, and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed watching sci-fi and true crime. Michele's greatest joy was spending time with her grandson, Liam - whether it be teaching him her family Slavic history and recipes, going to church and dinner afterwards, or simply hanging out. On April 18, 1974, she married the love of her life, Richard J. Douglas, who passed away February 15, 2018. Michele is survived by her loving daughter and best friend, Lin Douglas Webb; beloved grandson, Liam Douglas Webb, whom she adored; son-in-law, William B. Webb (Rui); and many friends whom she loved and considered her family. Also surviving is a daughter, Barbara M. Douglas (John D. Morrocco, III). Friends are welcome from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, November 13, in the Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Friday, November 14, in St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church, 166 E. College Street, Canonsburg, with the Rev. Joseph Raptosh as celebrant. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church.

Yesterday

I'm so sorry for your loss...I have such great memories of roller skating, late night pizza runs, cruising looking for boys, getting all decked out for the Houston pumpkin festival, and swimming...such great memories with Michele, Barb, Lin, and Rich too! Oh and spinning wheels! And I remember Michele took such great care of my grandma when she needed a homecare nurse... I'm so glad to have known her...virtual hugs Lin and Barb.

I knew Michele from working in the lab. She was always so joyful and inspiring. She was a lovely lady.

Barb and John, so sorry for your loss. She was a cute lady and I honestly never put two and two together until I was just reading her obituary that she was your mom Barb, she was a patient at the practice I work at, and my birthday twin. And also sorry for the loss for the rest of the family.
