Michele C. Torbitt
OSWEGO, NY – Michele C. Torbitt's spirit was released from her body on Monday, Dec. 1, 2025, at home. She was 62 years old. Michele faced a quiet battle with Polymyositis, a disease that mimics Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Despite being told at diagnosis that she would only have 6-7 years remaining, Michele was having none of that and instead chose to lean into her strength and resolve, fighting for 12 years to have more time with her husband, children, grandchildren, other family members, and special friends. A true giver, she was the glue that held families and friendships together.
Michele was employed by Pathfinder Bank (formerly Oswego City Savings Bank) for 33 years, working her way up from Teller to Vice President of Electronic Commerce. A lifelong resident of Oswego, Michele was known by just about everyone. A giver until the very end, she was a woman who loved deeply, fiercely, and wholeheartedly. Quick to laugh and make jokes, she loved nothing more than making memories that became beloved stories her family and friends will tell again and again.
She loved her community, as shown by her willingness to serve on boards and volunteer for organizations such as the United Way, Oswego Town Fire District, Oswego Public Library, Zonta Club, March of Dimes, and Harborfest.
Michele was predeceased by her mother and step-father; Patricia (Carlin) and Robert Loomis of
Oswego, NY, her father and step-mother, James and Carolyn Duplessis of
Oswego, NY, and her beloved dog Asia.
Survivors include her husband and soulmate Jamie Torbitt; her daughter Alexandra (Culeton) Fitzpatrick and son-in-law Craig Fitzpatrick, and her grandchildren, Quinn and Connor Fitzpatrick of Fulton, NY; her stepson, Jordan Torbitt and daughter-in-law Genevieve Stever, and grandchild Khloe Torbitt; her stepdaughter Amanda Torbitt and grandchildren Madison and Mackenzi Belson, and Cayden Carpenter-all of
Oswego, NY; her brothers Michael and Mark Duplessis of
Oswego, NY; her sister Cherie Mullen of New Haven, NY and many other Torbitt and Duplessis sister-in-law's, brother-in law's, nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog Layla.
Private services-by invitation only- will be held. Everyone is invited to participate in the Benefit on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 12:00-4:00 pm at the Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) at 22 Munn Street,
