Michelle Rene Cowan (“Mickey”), age 67, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on October 31, 2025. She was born on September 12, 1958, in Tacoma, Washington.
Mickey worked for many years as a waitress in Tennessee before moving to Michigan to be closer to her family. She loved her dog, Kato, and her cats dearly.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Billy Griffin, Johnny Griffin, Morris Griffin of Georgia; L.G. “Luke” Smith of Helena, Montana; and her beloved late son Jonathan.
She is survived by her sisters Connie Strickland of South Carolina and Tina Sigourney (Andrew) of Battle Creek, Michigan; her brothers Webb Smith of Bend, Oregon, and Forest T. Smith III; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mickey loved Elvis Presley, watching TV, cooking, and spending time with her friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society or Companion Cats, causes close to her heart.
At Mickey’s request, she was cremated, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
