Michelle Hext (Looman), 59, of Fort Plain, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2025 in her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on August 31, 1966 to the late Jim and Denise Looman. In addition to her parents, Michelle was predeceased by her grandson, Lincoln Sala.

Michelle worked at Fort Plain Elementary School for almost 30 years. She was a very active member of school community and loved the students and staff she worked with. In her time there she also tutored, was a class advisor, and ran student council.

Michelle enjoyed spending time with her friends whether it was going shopping, out to lunch, to concerts, to craft fairs, or just sitting and talking on the porch. In her downtime, she liked to read and enjoyed being at home with her dogs. Above all, Michelle treasured time spent with her children and her granddaughter. Michelle's favorite thing was being a mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter and son in law Kasie and Logan Sala; her son Anthony Hext; granddaughter Avery Sala; brother and sister-in-law Jim and Silvana Looman; sister and brother-in-law Renee and Joe Swank; nephews James Looman and Aric Looman; and nieces Emile Swank and Eryka Swank.

The family will be holding a private graveside service at Canajoharie Falls and celebration of life on Friday October 3 from 4-8pm at the Moose Lodge in Canajoharie that is open to the public.
