Sylvia M. Hext

Sylvia M. Hext, 98 of Texas City, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Solidago Health and Rehab.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, September 30, 2025, prior to the services.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Emken-Linton Funeral Home, 5100 Emmett F. Lowry Expressway, in Texas City, with Pastor Carl Strickland officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery, in Webster, Texas.

Sylvia M. Hext was born March 6, 1927, in Mobile, AL, to Elmer C. Milton, Sr and Marjorie Catrett Milton. She was a stay home mother until both daughters graduated from High School. She then went to work as the office manager of Whites Home and Auto until they went out of business.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Elmer C. Milton, Jr, and spouse of 46 years Billy D. Hext.

She is survived by her daughters, Cherie Woitena (Larry), Bonnie Chappell (John),

grandchildren Tobe J Bashor, Sr (Jennifer), Deanna M. Bashor, Jennifer Feigle (Troy Hodges), and 4 great-grandchildren. Also, sisters Peggy Harris, Gloria De la Cruz, brother Michael F. Milton and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Tobe J. Bashor, Sr., Tobe J. Bashor, Jr., John Chappell, and Troy Hodges.
