Michelle Leilani Landers was born on July 2, 1952, in
Honolulu, Hawaii, to Euclid William Valentine and Deloris Marie (Michaeli) Valentine.
Although Michelle spent her childhood in several places, she and her family eventually settled in Illinois. She graduated from Belleville East High School with the Class of 1971.
Upon finishing high school, Michelle pursued cosmetology, where she earned both her license and instructor credentials. She worked in salons before marrying Michael Patrick Landers on September 8, 1975, in Litchfield, Illinois.
With Michael serving in the military, Michelle embraced the role of a military spouse. They were stationed in Germany and other locations. When Michael retired, they settled near Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
After relocating to Fort Leonard Wood, Michelle became an Admissions Specialist for Central Texas College on the military base, dedicating ten years to supporting soldiers and other students with enrollments before becoming medically retired.
Michelle enjoyed crafts such as diamond dots, crocheting, and quilting. She was also a talented cook, delighting in preparing meals for her family and friends.
Michelle was baptized as a young girl at the Christian Church in Auburn, Illinois. She passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026, at the age of 73, surrounded by loved ones. Michelle will be missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
She is survived by her three sons, Donald Landers of Las Vegas, Nevada, Michael Landers (Cherie) of Seymour, Missouri, and Matthew Landers (Lori) of Roby, Missouri; four grandchildren: Damion, Gabriel, Michelle, and Margo; her brother, William Valentine (Jo) of Savannah, Georgia; two sisters, Yvette Summers (David) of New Braunfels, Texas, and Yvonne Reck (DJ) of Plato, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
Michelle was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Michael Patrick Landers, and her sister Lavonne D. Valentine.
Although Michelle is no longer with us, her spirit will remain in our hearts forever.
Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 9, 2026, in Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert with Pastor Jeff Wofford officiating. The songs "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden" by Alan Jackson were played. Serving as escorts were family and friends. Burial followed in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, under the care and direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert.
