Mickey Lee Summerlin

Mickey Lee Summerlin, 58, of Archdale, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025. He was born on January 7, 1967, in Lenoir, North Carolina, to Linda Clark Summerlin and the late J.E. Summerlin.

Mickey spent his early life growing up in Hudson, NC, building lasting friendships, growing a family, learning valuable skills and honing his many talents. Later in life, he moved to TX continuing in the warehousing and logistics industry, running the central United States division of Sun Delivery. While there he built many lasting friendships and discovered a love of camping with his wife, Diane. In 2019, he returned to North Carolina and settled in Archdale, where he spent the remainder of his life surrounded by family and friends.

In 2013, Mickey married the love of his life, Diane, with whom he shared many years of laughter, love, and adventure. Together, they created a warm and welcoming home filled with joy and happiness.

Mickey is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Diane; his beloved children, son Carter, daughter Kylee, daughter Ashley (husband Kenny), stepson Thomas (wife Anna); and his treasured grandsons, Riley and Camden. He is also survived by his mother, Linda Clark Summerlin; his brother, Kevin Summerlin (wife Michelle); his sister, Leslie Borgsteede (husband Hank); and his nieces and nephews, Erik, Heather, Chandler and Sydney. He is also survived by several aunts and uncles.

A man of compassion and energy, Mickey touched countless lives. As the past president of Sawmills Community Optimist Park, Mickey directed and coordinated countless games, concessions and tournaments for hundreds of children, ensuring the entire ballpark ran smoothly. It remains a beloved baseball park for children that continues to serve the community he cared for deeply. Known for his generous spirit, Mickey was always the first to lend a helping hand-whether fixing something, offering advice, sharing a laugh, or providing a meal. He especially loved cooking, grilling and smoking all kinds of delicious foods which he enjoyed sharing with family and friends!

Mickey was truly a kid at heart-goofy, fun-loving, and full of life. He was a jack of all trades with remarkable skills in construction and automobiles, and his knack for barbecue made him the go-to cook at any gathering. Above all, Mickey will be remembered for his big heart, sense of humor, and the joy he brought to those around him.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank Hospice of Randolph and Hospice House in Asheboro for the excellent care and compassion in Mickey's final days.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at Friendship Baptist Church in Hudson, North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Randolph in Mickey's honor.

Mickey's warmth, laughter, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
