Mickey Whitlow

Mrs. Mildred "Mickey" Lucile Meek Whitlow, age 93 of Whitesburg, Georgia passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023. She was born on March 2, 1930 in Atlanta, Georgia the daughter of the late Pierce Shelby Meek and Jeanette Walton Meek.
Mrs. Whitlow worked as a key punch operator for U.S. Steel for over 25 years. She enjoyed shopping more than most and spent a lot of her time doing that and decorating her homes. When not shopping you could find her at Daytona Beach, Florida.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Gayle Burks; granddaughters, Kathy Burks Lawler (Scott), Michelle Burks Wright (Chris); great grandsons, Jordan Wright, Dylan Wright; very special niece, Vicki Spears (David); many more nieces and nephews who were all special to her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Joe Meek, Fred Meek, Jobo Meek, Tom Meek, Bill Meek; sisters, Mary Almond, Christene Boozer; and grandson, William Burks.
The family will receive friends in the chapel of Almon Funeral Home on Sunday, November 5, 2023 from 2 PM to 3 PM. Memorial service will follow in the chapel at 3 PM with Bro. Tommy Boozer officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to one of Mickey's favorite charities, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
